Why LAGARI?
Many are asking why our parish newsletter is called Lagari.
Lagari is a Filipino word for saw, a tool for cutting, made of a thin blade with
sharp teeth on the edge, one important instrument of a carpenter. St. Joseph the Worker, our patron saint, and the father
of our Lord Jesus Christ when he was here on earth was a carpenter, and surely, with our Lord Jesus Christ who worked with
him, they used Lagari to earn a living. Lagari, for Filipinos has also another meaning: to wok hard! Filipinos who are here
in Taiwan have to work hard to earn more for their family and their future. Many of them also work hard to do their mission
as Christians as they volunter to work in the vineyard of our Lord. Here, in St. Joseph the Worker Parish, we are blessed
to have a lot of vounteer workers who spend their time and talents in different ministries of our Church.
